The Central Electoral Commission is responsible for organizing and conducting elections to the Parliament, the President of the Republic, municipal councils and mayors, the European Parliament, as well as national referendums.

The Central Electoral Commission Information System (VRKIS), originally developed in 2012, underwent four modernization phases by 2024. Despite these updates, several components of the system remained outdated, and functionality gaps persisted particularly in the effective, reliable presentation, publication, and reuse of electoral data.

To address these challenges, a comprehensive modernization of VRKIS was launched. The objective is to develop a unified service and information portal, as well as to enhance existing electronic services and introduce new ones.
